My name is Mac Rubel and I'm a Registered Maine Guide, US Coast Guard Master, Emergency Medical Technician and a fireman, as well as a frequent speaker at Microsoft Professional Developers Conferences and an instructor at the local community college.
I've been fishing all my life and have been guiding in different parts of the world for the past fifteen years. For almost thirty years Downeast Maine has been my home for the summer and I know of no better place to be from June through September. The smallmouth bass fishing is fantastic! It does not matter if you are a spin fisherman or a die-hard fly caster. Smallies will give you a real thrill!
I've had a series of fishing boats and have finally found the ultimate "Downeast Bass Fishing Machine." I have a custom-built jet-driven river john boat that will run in less than four inches of water and will go where other boats cannot. This means that my clients are able to get to fish that don't see many lures. The result? A bigger and better catch!
I practice catch and release fishing and prefer to fish barbless to protect my beauties. Respect nature and it will allow you to share her gifts.
Speaking of beauty, Downeast Maine has more than its fair share. I have been on the water here for over thirty years and I still find new and beautiful things to marvel at. Share this with me!
